About Us
B.Y. Alpine Sports is all about making freestyle skiing and snowboarding more accessible. We provide training setups that help riders of all levels train closer to home, pushing their progression in a fun, safe, and flexible environment.
What is a backyard setup?
The new way to train
A backyard setup is a home-based freestyle training space. The equipment is usually made of a drop-in ramp which is covered in artifical slope material and rail features placed on the exit of the ramp. These setups allow athletes to develop technique, creativity, and confidence outside of ski resorts or snowdomes.
Why a backyard setup?
How pro athletes are reinventing the way they train
Top athletes from around the world including Olympic and X-Games medalists are turning to backyard setups.
As a convenient and cost effective way to keep progressing year-round, these home built training spaces are becoming more popular as a recognised form of training. A unique approach to training, these setups also generate huge attention on social media, helping athletes grow their profiles outside of traditional competitions.
The roots of B.Y. Alpine Sports trace back to a homemade backyard setup. Inspired by the freestyle community, our founder Ollie set out to build his own ski slope in his parents garden. With dryslope material borrowed from the local ski centre and a tight budget, a simple setup came to life. During Covid lockdown, this DIY slope became the daily training ground, offering endless laps and the chance to refine skills. What started as a passion project soon evolved into a platform for rapid progression, laying the foundations for what would become B.Y. Alpine Sports.
We began with a simple belief: progression in freestyle skiing and snowboarding should be accessible to more people. Permanent facilities are rare, costly, and often out of reach for local clubs, schools, and businesses. Our mobile ski ramp removes those barriers by offering a flexible hire solution that allows organisations to bring freestyle training closer to their communities. This means riders can train more often, repeat tricks, and build confidence without the restrictions of distance or expense.
Our goal is to support businesses, sports clubs, and organisations by providing a flexible, high-quality training solution that removes the cost and complexity of building permanent facilities. With our mobile ski ramp, clients can deliver safe, professional freestyle experiences to their members and communities. By enabling clubs and businesses to host engaging training sessions, events, and activities, we help create opportunities for progression at every level. In turn, this builds confidence among riders, strengthens participation, and connects more people to the UK freestyle community.
